Who I am & My Mission:

certified wellness coach

My name is Dr.  Conor Hogan (sociologist, educator, therapist) and I was born and am still living in Ireland.   I am an Certified Wellness Coach who concentrates on Health, Wellbeing and Education and was trained through The Coach Training Academy (TCTA). I help people who have issues in their life concerning anything to do with their ill health, their emotional or mental wellbeing and who have problems or issues in the educational field also.

For me a person`s life happiness, and success is dictated by the four pillars of their health, emotional wellbeing, their relationships and their ability to progress throughout life to get to where they want to go. If you think about it, as an adult we all have dreams and ambitions. Some are big, others are small. Some are long term dreams such as buying a house or achieving the height of professional success and some are small, more mundane day to day thing such as getting that bit fitter, or losing that big of weight, eating healthier or improving our friendships and relationships with people. Either way, once we are physically, emotional and mentally healthy enough to think clearly and set our goals and targets then we can begin to strategize properly to plan our long term goals or ambitions to the best of our ability. All of this is essentially all fuelled by experience, knowledge and information arising out of proper education.

My personal motivation:

When I was growing up I was a sports` mad youngster. I had huge hopes and dreams and couldn’t wait to become an adult and become the big athlete that my genetics were on course to give me. Unfortunately for me, by the time I was in my late teens I became immobile and struggled to move fluidly, or even properly. I spent a long time on crutches with a variety of problems and eventually it became known that I had Scoliosis in my spine. All my plans were thwarted and so I was left in chronic pain and spent my twenties seeking a cure for my pain and a way to project my life and career in a positive manner. Eventually, after a lot of different therapies and the ups and downs, I began to heal myself. As this happened I vowed to myself that I would help others in their health and wellbeing problems too.

Professionally, I was fortunate enough to be working in the field of Education and I completed further third level education courses to sharpen my skills and insights in order to bring my personal and professional expertise together for my client`s health, wellbeing and overall life education.

I promised myself that I would not only heal myself of the crippling pain and awkward lifestyle that my crooked spine gave me, and I did, I was still unable to understand how I would meander a road to helping others, that was until I began to train with the Coach Training Academy. Here I was both educated and guided into using my personal and professional skills for the good of all those that I come in contact with.

Why coach training?

Very often we feel like we want to progress. Certainly by the time we leave school as young adults we are faced with a set of decisions about which college, what school or what career path we are going to take. Most friends or family we know will ask us what our next move is. This comes from their own curiosity and perhaps a willingness to help. Even if we haven’t thought about what do in life, others will begin to tell us that it’s time to have an aim or a goal and to go out there and try to attain it. This is real adult life, and it happens every day and every year throughout adulthood. We are continually trying to make ends meet, progress a little bit further in life and in some small way build on our past experiences to improve our life. All of this progression takes time and energy and quite often we can lose our focus, become downcast on our lack of progress and become de-motivated. For me, becoming a life coach allows me to act as knowledgeable personal support that can tweak a person`s thinking and redirect them on to their true path.

Highlights of the TCTA program for me:

Despite the fact that the Coach Training Academy offered me a live online training course, it was extremely personal and interactive which allowed me to appreciate the knowledge and caring attitude that the Academy showed me. When I was researching which training course take and stumbled across the Coach Training Academy website I immediately contacted them via e-mail. Often when you stumble across a site like this you read the information on the site, see the pictures or the attached videos and you still have questions so you email them. However, not every training facility takes the time and care that The Coach Training Academy did to answer my questions and reassure me that their course was the most appropriate for my needs. This is mainly down to Steve Kiges who was immediately available and tailored his timetable to adapt to my needs, even though I was on the other side of the world!

How the training is helping me professional/personally:

Coming from the world of Education and into the realm of coaching has been a sideways journey, made smooth and effortless by the Coach Training Academy. Having taught primary and post primary (High School) and being a Youth worker for 13 years prior to training with the Coach Training Academy my qualification in Life Coaching professionally projected me into the field of Behavioural Education and Wellbeing also. Although initially working with young people in the coaching field, it was through being in contact with their parents that I realized the need for adults to become life coached in the area of Health, Wellbeing and Education also.

When I initially quailed as a Life Coach from the TCTA I worked exclusively with children and teenagers. Then, although I was advertising and marketing my services to these age-groups other professionals noticed my offerings and contacted me to do similar work with individual adults and groups of adults. This began to open up other avenues of coaching for me and ones that I would not have envisaged once I had graduated from the TCTA. This further proves that the Coach Training Academy’s training is second to none in the field.
