To Everything There Is A Season – What Time Is Your 2014 Season About?
Before I continue I suggest you listen to this iconic song performed by The Byrds in the late 1960′s.
There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity
a time to be born and a time to die,
a time to plant and a time to uproot,
a time to kill and a time to heal,
a time to tear down and a time to build,
a time to weep and a time to laugh,
a time to mourn and a time to dance,
a time to scatter stones and a time to gather them,
a time to embrace and a time to refrain,
– Ecclesiastes 3:1-8
I find this song touching because it speaks about our humanness. It does not mix words, ignoring the sad and difficult times nor does it flatter us with a “gung ho” charge!
What I hear in this song are questions, asking us to look at our lives and reflect on where we are and what we want.
As coaches this is what we do everyday with our clients and to stay in integrity what we need to be doing with ourselves everyday. Are we “in time” in our lives? Are we choosing our time wisely? What meaning and actions is 2014 the time for?
I hope this song brings as much connection to you as it does to me.
All the best,
Steve
